Color Purple, Color Symbolism #3

1. I chose black to focus on this photograph.

2. The meaning this color can convey mystery, unhappiness and fear.

3. This color relates to the passage from the book because it's about a lady standing up for herself while a man is talking her down. He's saying stuff like I should have lock you up. Just let you out to work. Therefore the color represents unhappiness, anger, and fear.

4. The photograph relates to this passage because in the passage i says that he would lock her up.

5. "Shit, he say. I should have lock you up. Just let you out to work. The jail you plan for me is the one in which you will rot, I say"

6. This photo gives the same feeling as the passage because it's dark and this passage is a very tense setting. It talks about a man locking up a woman so the bars represent jail bars.

2. The meanings that this color can convey are joy, happiness and sunshine.

3. This color can relate to the passage from the book because it's about someone having a good time in Africa. A very memorable experience.

4. This photograph relates to the passage from the book because it mentions how their skin glows in the sun.

5. "Because the black is so black the eye is simply dazzled, and then there is the shining that seems to come, really, from moonlight, it is so luminous, but their skin glows even in the sun."

6. This photo gives the same feeling as the passage because the photo is very bright and I would say it has a good energy from it and so does the passage.

2. The meaning that this color can convey is passion, desire, intensity, aggression, danger and passion.

3. The color of this photo relates to the passage from the book because the passage is about fear and anger and how a father is saying women are lower then men. He beats his wife and as the children peak through to see, the young daughter becomes more afraid of men.

4. This photograph relates to the passage from the story because at the end a boy named Harpo says he loves a girl and is trying to get her attention by winking at her but she acted like she was scared. So this photograph is representing a guy trying to get a girl and her avoiding him and moving away.

5. "I don't know. I wink at her. She act like she scared to look."

6. This photo gives the same feeling as the passage because the girl is refusing to talk to the guy and she's not paying him any attention. It shows the hesitation described in the story.

Composition and Silhouettes

Composition

1. Framing can help show the main idea of your photo because it highlights the main point of interest.

2. Perspective is shooting at different levels of height or at weird angles. Perspective can emphasize different points of interest.

3. You can use space in a photo by giving your subject space to breath.

4. Balance in a photograph is making sure your photo in even and balanced.

5. Good points of using color in a photo are that it adds interest, energy and vibrancy. Bad points of using colors are that it can distract viewers of an image away from focal points.

Silhouettes

1. It coveys drama and mystery.

2. Place your subject in front of some source of light.

3. Make sure more light is shining from the background.

4. Your light source would be behind your subject.

5. A sunset or a sunrise would be a good background but any bright light would work.

6. A profile is the side of a persons face. It would make a good silhouette because you can see more of their features.

April 25th

1. I see a place that's cluttered with a bunch of newspapers and boxes and a bunch of other things.

2. It's a black and white composition. And I also see a bunch of sharp crisp lines.

4. The mood this gives me is an empty mood. All though it's packed with a bunch of things it's still empty and neglected.

5. This photo gives me the impression of emptiness all though there is a lot of "garbage" all over the floor. The place is neglected and no one has ever bothered to pay any mind to it to try and clean it up.

6. This uses the rule of thirds because on the left side of the photo it focuses on the broken walls, and windows. on the top of the photo it focuses on the rotted ceiling, and on the right it focuses on the windows. and of course the bottom of the photo focuses on the mess.

Creating Mood

The writer says that creating mood is all about the feeling of being there, taking the viewer

A common element that can add mood to a photo is fog.

Storm clouds add mood because they are big, dark, and threatening. This would convey a

March 11th Photo info

It's About Light:
1. What can lighting conditions at noon do to a photo of a person?
Well if you shot photos at noon you would get highlights on a picture that are too bright and shadows that are too dark.
2. What are "golden hours" for sunlight?
Golden hours or magic hours are and hour or two after sunrise and an hour or two before sunset.
3. List three examples of why light is more interesting during the "golden hours".
  • the light is directional, it emphasizes many things such as shape and texture.
  • light has a warmer more attractive color.
  • the light quality is softer and it produces shadows and highlights that aren't too dark or too bright.
4. How can cloud cover effect a photograph?
Cloud cover can effect a photograph by blocking and diffusing the sun.
5. Explain why the two photos taken at 5:18pm are different, and what makes one more interesting then the other?
The two photos are different because the person who took the photo took it during magic hours and the person fought against the light. I find the first one taken to be more interesting because the shadows are so crisp and you can tell where the sun is shining from.

I think this is an important news photo because I always feel like people in different countries do crazy things. This is one of them, she's 18 and married and her husband cuts her nose and ears off. This is important for people to be informed about.

I see the a bridge and the view is from under the bridge. There are very tall cinder blocks the same size as the three young children also in the photo.

The bridge looks a silver color with very crisp bars to support it which create a lot of diagonal lines. The blocks of cement are grey in color there's dry grass so it's brownish- green in color.

I see what looks like a small field, with trees. There are trees in the foreground and scattered and there are buildings in the background.

The photo is a black and whit composition so all of it is composed of different shades of grey. and there are straight lines because of the edge of the building, curved lines because of the pathways and the windows on the buildings.

I think that this photo just gives off a family vibe and it looks like something to do with your family. I think this photograph is showing the importance of family, relationships, and stuff of that nature because that's what I feel is being portrayed .

I think this photo is very clean and the background is very easy to get. But the focus on the point of interest throws me off because there are many things to focus on in many different areas. It's hard to tell what the focal point of the photo is. Is it the trees ? The people getting together .
